Dr Samaras has over 20 years’ experience in the global life sciences industry. He has worked in senior roles with global life science companies such as Applied Biosystems and Perkin Elmer. Dr Samaras has been consulting to venture capital firms, investors, banks and global biotechnology companies through his firm Australis Biosciences. During his career he has been involved in a diverse range of roles within the industry including senior management, marketing, sales, business development and research.
Dr Samaras is a Director of several companies including: Chairman of Replikun Biotech Pty Limited and Teeleostin Pty Ltd and Director of The AGRF Pty Ltd and Human Genetic Signatures Pty Ltd.
Dr Benjamin Kile, LLB, BSc(Hons), PhD
Chief Operating Officer
With a background in both science and law, Dr Kile has 10 years experience in biomedical research, in Australia and internationally, at Baylor College of Medicine in the United States. A molecular geneticist whose research focus is the hematopoietic system, Dr Kile has made significant contributions to the generation of new models of human disease and the molecular regulation of blood cell formation. Dr Kile is currently an Australian Research Council Queen Elizabeth II Fellow at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research.
Professor Douglas Hilton, FAA, BSc(Hons), PhD
Chief Scientific Officer
Professor Hilton is a highly distinguished international leader in haematological research. He has
established an international reputation for his multiple discoveries in the area of cytokine signalling.
Professor Hilton’s many accomplishments have included: The purification of a novel cytokine named
leukaemia inhibitory factor (LIF), cloning the IL-11 receptor, IL-13 receptor and an entirely novel family
of negative regulators of cytokine signalling, the SOCS proteins.
Professor Hilton is Head of the Molecular Medicine Division at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of
Medical Research where he is leading a large scale Systems Biology initiative.
